Farming dominates headlines, but Moonlight Peaks still rewards the wanderer. Foraging, fishing, and bug catching cost less energy than maintaining large crop grids, making them ideal filler on nights when plants are growing or kegs are fermenting. Sell surplus for seed money or store catches for gifts and potions once recipes confirm uses.

Foraging basics

Pick up glowing resources along forest paths, riverbanks, and quarry edges described in the map guide. Seasonal spawns likely rotate like crops — note what appears each in-game week in the demo and revisit after launch for final tables.

Fishing

Demo players fish at pier spots and sell catches alongside shells and farm goods for income while grapes grow. Keep rare fish if gift reactions test positive in the gift tracker. Controller players should verify cast and reel buttons during the demo on their platform.

Bug catching and the net

The bug net occupies a tool wheel slot alongside axe, pickaxe, and shovel. Use it for insects and for catching Vempsters hidden around the map. Some creatures react to tools you hold — swap intentionally when exploring homestead pens with the livestock guide animals nearby.

Economy fit

Fold a short gather loop into every night: ten minutes of forage or fish can fund tomorrow's seeds when crop sales lag. Do not ignore gathering entirely for romance grinding — handcrafted gifts still need farm inputs from the crops list.
